# Why should I become a Lifestyle Medicine Nurse?

## Lifestyle Medicine is one of the most evidence-supported ways to prevent and reverse chronic disease, yet most nurses get little training in it. This course closes that gap.

Lifestyle Medicine is one of the most effective, evidence-supported approaches for preventing, improving, and often reversing chronic disease — yet most nurses receive little formal training in how to apply it. Becoming a Lifestyle Medicine Nurse lets you bring therapeutic lifestyle change into everyday practice within nursing scope, drawing on the evidence base of the [American College of Lifestyle Medicine](https://lifestylemedicine.org/about-lifestyle-medicine/). It fits naturally with nursing's strengths: patient education, relationship-centered care, health promotion, coaching, and sustained partnership.

Nurses who develop these competencies often find they can improve outcomes through brief everyday interventions, strengthen chronic-disease management in any setting, address root contributors to illness, and expand into wellness, prevention, and whole-person roles.
