Eligibility for INCA Programs

Who can enroll and what prerequisites (if any) apply.

Overview

INCA programs are designed for nurses who want to bring a whole-person, integrative approach into their professional practice. This article explains who is eligible to enroll, how licensure factors into program selection, and important scope-of-practice considerations.

Who INCA Programs Are Designed For

INCA programs are designed for nurses who want to bring an integrative, holistic, coaching-informed approach to their work. Who can enroll depends on the program.

Program-Specific Eligibility

Integrative Nurse Coach® Certificate Program (INCCP): requires active licensure as either a Registered Nurse (RN) or an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN/NP). This reflects the scope, depth, and supervised coaching components of the program.

Self-Paced Specialty Programs: designed for nurses and also open to LPNs, LVNs, and CNAs. You can take any specialty program — no RN or APN license is required. (See our blog, Nurse Coaching Programs for LPNs & LVNs.)

Note: Not a nurse? Some allied health professionals can enroll in select specialty programs. See Allied Health Professional Eligibility (Non-Nurses) for details and contact-hour eligibility.

Scope of Practice Considerations

  • All INCA programs are taught within the scope of professional nursing.
  • Core content is designed to align with RN scope of practice.
  • Some programs include additional content relevant to advanced practice nurses.
  • LPNs, LVNs, and CNAs are welcome to enroll in specialty programs and should remain mindful of their specific scope of practice, employer policies, and state or regional regulations.

INCA programs are educational in nature. Completion does not expand or replace your professional license, nor authorize you to practice outside your licensed scope.

Using What You Learn

Nurses use INCA education across clinical practice, care coordination and case management, leadership and education, and wellness, coaching, and private practice. How you apply it depends on your license, role, employer policies, and local regulations.
