Cohort-based INCCP vs. Self-Paced Specialty Programs

A comparison of our cohort-based flagship program and self-paced specialties, including pacing and support.

Overview

INCA offers multiple educational pathways to support nurses at different stages of their professional journey. While these programs differ in format and focus, they are intentionally designed to work together. The Integrative Nurse Coach® Certificate Program (INCCP) is INCA's flagship program and provides the foundational framework that informs all other INCA offerings. Our self-paced specialty programs build upon, complement, or deepen specific areas of this work.

You are not required to complete INCCP before taking a specialty program. However, many nurses choose to begin with INCCP to establish a strong integrative nurse coaching foundation before layering in specialty training.

The Integrative Nurse Coach® Certificate Program (INCCP)

INCCP is a comprehensive, cohort-based program that teaches the core framework, principles, and competencies of integrative nurse coaching. It is designed to support nurses seeking a whole-person, evidence-informed approach that can be applied across clinical practice, leadership, education, and private practice. Key features of INCCP include:

  • A structured, cohort-based learning experience with defined start and end dates
  • Live faculty-led sessions and interactive group learning
  • Peer coaching and supervised practicum experiences
  • Progression through Foundations, Practicum, and Level 3 content
  • Preparation aligned with board certification eligibility for nurse coaches

INCCP establishes the shared language, coaching framework, and professional identity that underpin INCA's approach. Learn more about INCCP here.

Self-Paced Specialty Programs

INCA's self-paced specialty programs allow nurses to explore specific modalities, focus areas, or applications of integrative nurse coaching. They are designed for flexibility and depth in a particular topic, and can be taken:

  • As a stand-alone learning experience
  • Alongside INCCP (when appropriate)
  • After completing INCCP to expand or specialize your skill set

Current self-paced specialty programs include:

Specialty programs are self-paced and include one year of access, allowing learners to move through the content on their own schedule.

Tip: INCCP alumni receive an alumni discount on all INCA specialty programs.

How the Programs Work Together

INCCP provides the overarching framework for integrative nurse coaching, while specialty programs allow nurses to apply that framework within specific contexts or modalities. Some nurses begin with INCCP to establish a strong foundation. Others start with a specialty program based on immediate interests and later enroll in INCCP. Both pathways are valid and supported.

Choosing the Right Path

If you are looking for a comprehensive nurse coaching framework, structured learning, and a cohort-based experience, INCCP is likely the best place to begin. If you are seeking focused education in a specific area or prefer self-paced learning, a specialty program may be a great fit. You can explore all available programs here. New to the field?
