Business Education in the INCCP

Overview

We love that you’re thinking about starting your own practice—this is an area where we’ve seen many of our graduates thrive, and there is a real and growing need for Nurse Coaches in independent and entrepreneurial roles. First, a point of clarity. The Integrative Nurse Coach® Certificate Program is not designed to be a stand-alone business course. Its primary purpose is to help you become a highly skilled, ethical, and effective Nurse Coach. In any successful practice, professional competence and confidence in your coaching skills come first—and that is always where we begin. That said, we fully recognize that many Nurse Coaches intend to build independent practices. For this reason, business fundamentals are intentionally integrated into Level 3 of the program. This branch introduces essential business concepts to help you move from certification to real-world application with clarity and confidence. In Level 3, you’ll explore foundational topics such as practice logistics, ethical considerations, scope-appropriate offerings, basic business structures, and early steps for launching or growing a nurse coaching practice. These lessons are designed to help you “hit the ground running” while staying aligned with nursing values and professional standards. For those who want a deeper, more comprehensive business education, INCA also offers an optional add-on program: Business of Nurse Coaching. This in-depth course was created specifically for Nurse Coaches in collaboration with Catie Harris, PhD, MBA, RN, and provides step-by-step guidance on building, refining, and sustaining a successful practice. Many students choose to complete the certificate program first, then layer in the Business of Nurse Coaching course when they’re ready for more advanced support. As an INCA student or graduate, you’ll also receive access to this program at a significant discount.
